When adding an IMAP account to Windows Mail, you may receive the error:
We couldn't access this account: You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync this device.
The solution is to:
- Right-click on your account & choose "Account Settings"
- Select "Change mailbox sync settings"
- Set "Download new email:" to "as items arrive"
- Select "Always download full message and internet images"
- Set Download email from to "any time"
- Turn on Email
