Internet use is tipped to explode six-fold in Australia over the next four years, and the number of users will rise from 14 million last year to more than 20 million by 2015, a new report says.
Technology company Cisco’s fifth annual global Visual Networking Index Forecast says also that:
- Australians’ appetite for broadband will continue to surge, driving internet trafic as high as 22Gb a head by 2015 – the equivalent of two billion DVDs a year.
- The number of internet-connected gadgets will jump from 2.1 to 3.6 a head.
- Video demand will soar, with 27,716 years’ worth traversing the net every month. Video is set to account for 81 per cent of all internet traffic by 2015
